  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 255 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Cool off with this refreshing Watermelon Slushie, a delightful mix of frozen watermelon, fresh juice, and a splash of lime. Perfect for hot summer days, it’s easy to make and incredibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of seedless watermelon, cubed and frozen
  • 1 cup of fresh watermelon juice (about 1 small watermelon)
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup of ice cubes (optional, for a thicker slushie)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Watermelon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Select a ripe, seedless watermelon. Look for one that feels heavy for its size and has a uniform shape. The skin should be smooth and free of blemishes.
  2. Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the flesh using a spoon, removing any seeds.
  3. Cube the watermelon flesh into bite-sized pieces and spread them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until completely frozen.
  4. While the watermelon is freezing, cut any remaining watermelon into chunks.
  5. Blend the watermelon chunks until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth if desired.
  6. Measure out 1 cup of fresh watermelon juice and set aside.
  7. In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen watermelon cubes, 1 cup of fresh watermelon juice, 2 tablespoons of lime juice, and 2 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup.
  8. For a thicker slushie, add 1 cup of ice cubes (optional).
  9. Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy, scraping down the sides as needed. Adjust consistency with more watermelon juice if too thick.
  10. Taste the slushie and adjust sweetness with more honey or agave syrup, or add more lime juice for tartness. Blend again if needed.
  11. Pour the slushie into glasses, filling them about three-quarters full. Garnish with fresh mint and a slice of watermelon.
  12. Serve immediately for the best icy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer, blending again before serving if necessary.

Notes

  • Feel free to experiment with different fruits or add a splash of coconut water for a tropical twist.
  • For an adult version, consider adding a splash of vodka or rum.
  • Adding spinach or kale can boost nutrition without altering the watermelon flavor.
