  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Refreshing and hydrating watermelon infused water with mint and lime. A simple and delicious way to stay cool and enjoy the flavors of summer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups cold, filtered water
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon, seeds removed
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, lightly crushed
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (approximately 23 limes)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cucumber slices
  • Optional: 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Optional: Ice cubes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut watermelon into 1-inch cubes, removing seeds.
  2. Gently crush mint leaves to release their aroma.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine watermelon, crushed mint, and lime juice (and cucumber/basil if using).
  4. Gently muddle the mixture for a more intense flavor.
  5. Pour cold, filtered water into the pitcher, ensuring ingredients are submerged.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to infuse.
  7. After infusing, taste and adjust infusion time if needed (up to 12 hours).
  8. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve for clearer water.
  9. Serve chilled with ice.
  10. Garnish with watermelon slice, mint sprig, or lime wedge.

Notes

  • Use seedless watermelon for convenience, but seeded varieties often have richer flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness with honey, agave, or stevia if desired.
  • Experiment with other citrus fruits like lemon, orange, or grapefruit.
  • Try different herb combinations like rosemary, thyme, or lavender.
  • Add fresh berries for extra flavor and antioxidants.
  • For a spicy kick, add a small piece of ginger or a pinch of chili flakes.
  • Use sparkling water for a bubbly twist.
  • Freeze infused water into ice cubes for later use.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Refill the pitcher with more water a couple of times while the fruit is still fresh.
