Violet Drink Starbucks: A Refreshing Guide to the Purple Delight

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing, Starbucks-inspired Violet Drink with hibiscus tea, coconut milk, and freeze-dried berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (or your preferred milk alternative)
  • 1/2 cup hibiscus tea, strongly brewed and chilled
  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried blackberries
  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (or to taste)
  • Optional: Additional freeze-dried berries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Hibiscus Tea: Brew a strong hibiscus tea by steeping 2-3 tea bags (or 2-3 tablespoons of loose leaf) in 1 cup of boiling water for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags/strain and chill completely.
  2. Prepare Simple Syrup: Combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup granulated sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 minute, then cool completely.
  3. Assemble the Drink:
    • Fill a tall glass with ice.
    • Pour in coconut milk.
    • Gently pour in chilled hibiscus tea.
    • Add simple syrup (start with 2 tablespoons, adjust to taste).
    • Add freeze-dried blackberries and blueberries.
    • Stir gently.
    • Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness as needed.
    • Garnish with additional freeze-dried berries (optional).
    • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use unsweetened coconut milk to control sweetness.
  • Adjust simple syrup to your preferred sweetness.
  • Don’t over-stir to maintain layering.
  • Chill hibiscus tea completely before using.
  • Freeze-dried berries rehydrate and add flavor.
  • Experiment with berry blends, lemon/lime juice, sparkling water, lavender syrup, or vanilla extract.
  • Use honey, agave nectar, or stevia instead of simple syrup.
  • Infuse simple syrup with herbs like mint or rosemary.
  • If using hibiscus concentrate, adjust the amount to your taste.
  • If the drink is too sweet, add a splash of hibiscus tea or coconut milk.
  • If the drink is not sweet enough, add more simple syrup.
  • If the drink is too tart, add more simple syrup or coconut milk.
  • If the drink is watery, use less ice and make sure the hibiscus tea is completely chilled before using it.
  • If the freeze-dried berries are not rehydrating properly, try crushing them slightly before adding them to the drink.
