Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ripe mango, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks, fresh or canned (in juice, not syrup)
- 1/2 ripe banana, sliced
- 1/4 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed is best!
- 1/4 cup coconut milk (full-fat or light, your preference!)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar (optional, for extra sweetness)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional, for a little zing!)
- Pinch of turmeric powder (optional, for color and health benefits)
- Ice cubes
- Optional garnish: pineapple wedge, mango slice, or a sprig of mint
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit: Peel and cube the mango. If using fresh pineapple, peel, core, and chop into chunks. Slice the banana.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the mango, pineapple, banana, orange juice, coconut milk, lime juice, honey or agave (if using), ginger (if using), and turmeric (if using) to a blender.
- Add Ice: Add a handful of ice cubes (about 1 cup) to the blender. Add more if needed to reach your desired consistency.
- Blend: Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed, until smooth and creamy (30-60 seconds).
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the drink and adjust sweetness with honey or agave, thickness with orange juice or coconut milk, or tanginess with lime juice.
- Final Blend: Blend again for a few seconds to incorporate any adjustments.
- Serve: Pour into a tall glass, garnish as desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Frozen Fruit: Use frozen fruit for a thicker, colder drink.
- Add Greens: Sneak in spinach or kale for extra nutrients.
- Smoothie Bowl: Pour into a bowl and top with granola, coconut, chia seeds, and fruits.
- Spice it Up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Cocktail: Add a shot of rum or vodka.
- Adjust Sweetness: Adjust the amount of honey or agave to your liking.
- Different Fruits: Experiment with other tropical fruits like papaya, guava, or passion fruit.
- Dairy-Free: Use any type of non-dairy milk, such as almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk.
- Prep Ahead: Chop the fruit ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to blend.
- Storage: While best served immediately, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. The drink may separate slightly, so give it a good stir before serving.
