  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing Strawberry Tajin Margarita with homemade strawberry puree, tequila, lime, and a spicy Tajin rim. Perfect for summer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 4 ounces tequila blanco (silver tequila)
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 2 ounces strawberry puree (from above)
  • 1/2 ounce agave nectar (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedge
  • Tajin seasoning
  • Strawberry slices
  • Lime wedge

Instructions

  1. Wash and Hull the Strawberries: Wash the strawberries under cool water. Remove the green hulls.
  2. Combine Ingredients in a Saucepan: In a medium saucepan, combine the hulled strawberries, water, and granulated sugar.
  3. Cook Over Medium Heat: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Simmer Until Softened: Simmer for about 8-10 minutes, or until the strawberries are softened and have released their juices.
  5. Mash the Strawberries: Use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to mash the strawberries in the saucepan.
  6. Blend Until Smooth: Carefully transfer the strawberry mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth. Be cautious when blending hot liquids.
  7. Strain (Optional): For an extra smooth puree, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve.
  8. Cool Completely: Allow the strawberry puree to cool completely before using it in the margarita.
  9. Prepare the Margarita Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass to moisten it.
  10. Rim with Tajin: Pour Tajin seasoning onto a small plate. Dip the moistened rim of the glass into the Tajin, rotating it to ensure an even coating.
  11. Add Ingredients to a Cocktail Shaker: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add the tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, strawberry puree, and agave nectar to the shaker.
  12. Shake Well: Secure the lid on the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.
  13. Strain into the Prepared Glass: Strain the margarita mixture into the Tajin-rimmed glass filled with ice.
  14. Garnish (Optional): Garnish the margarita with a strawberry slice and a lime wedge, if desired.

Notes

  • Use high-quality tequila blanco for the best flavor.
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice is essential.
  • Adjust the agave nectar to your preferred sweetness.
  • Chill your glasses for a colder drink.
  • Don’t over-shake the margarita.
  • Get creative with garnishes.
  • For a spicy margarita, add a few slices of jalapeño to the cocktail shaker.
  • For a frozen margarita, blend all ingredients with ice.
  • For a strawberry basil margarita, add a few fresh basil leaves to the cocktail shaker.
  • For a strawberry coconut margarita, substitute coconut cream for some of the lime juice.
