Description
Easy and delicious Peanut Butter Fluff! A creamy, sweet, and fluffy dessert perfect for parties, potlucks, or a simple sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (no-stir variety recommended)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 ounces whipped topping, thawed (Cool Whip or similar)
- Optional: 1/4 cup milk (to thin, if needed)
- Optional toppings: Mini chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, peanut butter cups, pretzels, graham cracker crumbs
Instructions
- Prepare Peanut Butter Base: In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and peanut butter on medium speed until smooth and well combined (2-3 minutes). Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Sift powdered sugar into the peanut butter mixture. Mix on low speed until mostly incorporated, then increase to medium speed and beat until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add vanilla extract and mix on low speed until fully incorporated.
- If the mixture is too thick, add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
- Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping into the peanut butter mixture. Cut down through the center of the mixture, then scrape up the bottom of the bowl and fold the mixture over the top. Rotate the bowl and repeat this process until the whipped topping is just incorporated. You should still see some streaks of white whipped topping throughout the mixture.
- Continue folding until the whipped topping is evenly distributed, but be careful not to overmix.
- Chill and Serve: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Give the fluff a gentle stir before serving.
- Serve in individual bowls, parfait glasses, or as a dip.
- Top with desired toppings.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Notes
- Make sure cream cheese is fully softened to prevent lumps.
- Sifting powdered sugar prevents a gritty texture.
- Folding in the whipped topping gently maintains its airiness.
- Chilling allows flavors to meld and the fluff to firm up.
- Don’t overmix the whipped topping.
- For a richer flavor, use natural peanut butter.
- For a lighter flavor, use light cream cheese.
- For a chocolate peanut butter flavor, add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.
- For a salty-sweet flavor, add a pinch of sea salt and top with crushed pretzels.
- For a healthier option, use sugar-free powdered sugar and light whipped topping.
- Can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
- Serve with graham crackers, pretzels, apple slices, banana slices, or as a topping for brownies or ice cream.
- If fluff is too thick, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
