Description
A creamy and refreshing peach milkshake made with ripe peaches, vanilla ice cream, and a touch of vanilla. Perfect for a summer treat!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream (high-quality for best results!)
- 1/2 cup milk (whole milk recommended for richness, but any kind works)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (or to taste, depending on the sweetness of your peaches)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
- Peach slices, for garnish (optional)
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish (optional)
- Ice cubes (optional, if you want a thicker, colder shake)
Instructions
- Prepare the Peaches: Peel, pit, and slice the peaches. To easily peel, score an “X” on the bottom, blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer to an ice bath. The skin should slip off.
- Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the sliced peaches, vanilla ice cream, milk, heavy cream (if using), sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed, until smooth and creamy (1-2 minutes). If using ice cubes, add them now and blend until desired consistency. Be careful not to over-blend.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust sweetness with more sugar, thickness with more milk, or flavor with more vanilla extract.
- Pour into Glasses: Pour the milkshake into your favorite glasses.
- Add Whipped Cream (Optional): Top with whipped cream, if desired.
- Garnish (Optional): Garnish with a slice of fresh peach and a maraschino cherry.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- Use Frozen Peaches: If fresh peaches aren’t in season, you can use frozen peaches instead. Just make sure to thaw them slightly before blending.
- Add Yogurt: For a slightly tangier and healthier milkshake, add a scoop of plain or vanilla yogurt to the blender.
- Spice it Up: Add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the milkshake for a warm and spicy flavor.
- Make it Vegan: Use vegan ice cream and plant-based milk to make a delicious vegan peach milkshake.
- Add a Shot of Liquor: For an adult version, add a shot of peach schnapps or bourbon to the blender.
- Chocolate Peach Milkshake: Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder or chocolate syrup to the blender for a chocolatey twist.
- Peanut Butter Peach Milkshake: Add a tablespoon of peanut butter to the blender for a nutty and delicious flavor combination.
- Caramel Peach Milkshake: Drizzle caramel sauce inside the glass before pouring in the milkshake, or add a tablespoon of caramel sauce to the blender.
- Use Different Types of Milk: Experiment with different types of milk, such as almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk, to find your favorite flavor combination.
- Adjust Sweetness: The sweetness of the milkshake will depend on the sweetness of your peaches and your personal preference. Start with a small amount of sugar and add more to taste. You can also use other sweeteners, such as honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar.
- Make it Ahead: While peach milkshakes are best enjoyed immediately, you can make them ahead of time and store them in the freezer for up to a few hours. Just be sure to stir them well before serving.
- Layered Milkshake: For a visually appealing milkshake, create layers by blending different flavors separately and then layering them in the glass. For example, you could blend a peach layer, a vanilla layer, and a chocolate layer.
- Cookie Crumbles: Crush some graham crackers or vanilla wafers and sprinkle them on top of the milkshake for added texture and flavor.
- Don’t Over-Blend: Over-blending can cause the ice cream to melt too much, resulting in a watery milkshake. Blend just until the ingredients are smooth and creamy.
- Chill Your Glasses: Chilling your glasses before serving will help keep the milkshake cold and refreshing.
- Use High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly affect the taste of your milkshake. Use ripe, juicy peaches and high-quality ice cream for the best results.
