  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 138 minutes
  • Yield: 16 pieces 1x

Description

This rich and creamy chocolate fudge is a simple yet indulgent treat made with just a few ingredients. Perfect for sharing or enjoying solo, you can customize it with optional nuts and mini marshmallows for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for added texture)
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper (for lining the dish)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients for a smoother cooking process.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. Pour in the entire can of sweetened condensed milk.
  4. Add the 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, ensuring it’s cut into small pieces.
  5. Sprinkle in the 1/4 teaspoon of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  6. Microwave the bowl on high for 1 minute. Stir the mixture well.
  7. Return the bowl to the microwave and heat for an additional 30 seconds. Stir again. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth (about 2-3 minutes total).
  8. Once smooth, add the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir.
  9. If using, fold in the 1/2 cup of chopped nuts.
  10. For a fun twist, add the 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows and stir to combine.
  11. Prepare an 8×8 inch square baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with cooking spray.
  12. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  13. Tap the dish gently on the counter to eliminate air bubbles.
  14. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. For a quicker option, freeze for 30-45 minutes.
  15. Once set, lift the fudge out of the dish using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board.
  16. Cut the fudge into squares or rectangles as desired.
  17. Transfer the fudge pieces to a serving plate or an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for freshness, lasting about 1-2 weeks.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize your fudge by adding different types of nuts or even a sprinkle of sea salt on top before it sets.
  • For a festive touch, consider adding colored sprinkles or crushed candy canes during the holiday season.
