Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans recommended)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for added texture)
- Cooking spray or parchment paper (for lining the dish)
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients for a smoother cooking process.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, add the 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour in the entire can of sweetened condensed milk.
- Add the 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, ensuring its cut into small pieces.
- Sprinkle in the 1/4 teaspoon of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
- Microwave the bowl on high for 1 minute. Stir the mixture well.
- Return the bowl to the microwave and heat for an additional 30 seconds. Stir again. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth (about 2-3 minutes total).
- Once smooth, add the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir.
- If using, fold in the 1/2 cup of chopped nuts.
- For a fun twist, add the 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows and stir to combine.
- Prepare an 8×8 inch square baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with cooking spray.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Tap the dish gently on the counter to eliminate air bubbles.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. For a quicker option, freeze for 30-45 minutes.
- Once set, lift the fudge out of the dish using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board.
- Cut the fudge into squares or rectangles as desired.
- Transfer the fudge pieces to a serving plate or an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for freshness, lasting about 1-2 weeks.
Notes
- Feel free to customize your fudge by adding different types of nuts or even a sprinkle of sea salt on top before it sets.
- For a festive touch, consider adding colored sprinkles or crushed candy canes during the holiday season.
