Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, I prefer oat milk!)
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled (or 2 shots of espresso, also cooled)
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder (culinary grade is best)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or sweetener of choice, adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional, but highly recommended!)
- Matcha powder, for dusting (optional)
- Chocolate shavings, for topping (optional)
- Caramel drizzle, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Matcha Base: In a small bowl, whisk together the matcha powder and about 2 tablespoons of the milk until you form a smooth, vibrant green paste.
- Ensure your brewed coffee or espresso is completely cooled.
- Blend the Frappuccino: Add the ice cubes to your blender.
- Pour in the remaining milk.
- Add the cooled coffee or espresso.
- Scoop the matcha paste into the blender.
- Add the sugar (or your sweetener of choice).
- Pour in the vanilla extract.
- Blend until everything is completely smooth and creamy (30-60 seconds). Scrape down the sides if needed.
- Adjust consistency: If too thick, add more milk (1 tbsp at a time). If too thin, add more ice cubes.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the frappuccino into a tall glass.
- Top with whipped cream (optional).
- Dust with a little extra matcha powder (optional).
- Add chocolate shavings or caramel drizzle (optional).
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Sweetness: Adjust the sugar to your liking.
- Milk: Use any type of milk you prefer (dairy, almond, soy, coconut, oat).
- Caffeine Boost: Add a shot of espresso for extra caffeine.
- Vegan: Use non-dairy milk and vegan whipped cream.
- Protein: Add a scoop of protein powder.
- Flavor Variations: Experiment with different extracts or spices.
- Make Ahead: Store in the freezer and re-blend when ready to serve.
- Frozen Fruit: Add frozen fruit like banana or mango for sweetness and thickness.
- Troubleshooting:
- Too icy: Add a splash of milk and blend again.
- Too watery: Add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
- Not sweet enough: Add more sugar or sweetener and blend again.
- Matcha powder is clumpy: Whisk the matcha powder with a small amount of milk before adding it to the blender.
- Too bitter: Use high-quality matcha powder. Culinary grade is recommended.
