Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup plain yogurt (preferably whole milk yogurt for creaminess)
- 1/2 cup milk (you can use whole, skim, or almond milk)
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust based on the sweetness of the mangoes)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to enhance the mango flavor)
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Start by selecting two ripe mangoes. You want them to be slightly soft to the touch, which indicates they are sweet and juicy.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully peel the mangoes. You can slice off the skin in long strips or use a vegetable peeler.
- Cut the mango flesh away from the pit and slice it into cubes for easier blending.
- Place the diced mangoes into a bowl and set them aside.
- In a blender, add the diced mangoes.
- Add 1 cup of plain yogurt to the blender.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of milk to help thin out the mixture.
- Add 1/4 cup of sugar, adjusting based on the sweetness of the mangoes.
- If desired, sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
- Squeeze in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
- Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and creamy.
- Stop the blender and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed. Blend again for a few more seconds.
- Taste the lassi and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more sugar and blending again.
- Transfer the blended mango lassi into a pitcher or a large bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- For immediate serving, pour the lassi into glasses with ice cubes.
- Fill chilled glasses with the mango lassi. If using ice cubes, add them first before pouring in the lassi.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of the mangoes.
