Description
Easy, no-bake pie featuring layers of orange Jell-O and a creamy creamsicle filling on a graham cracker crust. A light and refreshing dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- 5 tablespoons (2 ½ ounces) unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 6 ounces orange flavored Jell-O (2 small boxes)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed (like Cool Whip)
Instructions
- Prepare the Graham Cracker Crust: In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Mix well. Press firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes for a firmer crust (optional), or chill for 30 minutes. Cool completely.
- Make the Orange Jello Layer: In a large bowl, dissolve orange Jell-O powder in boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water.
- Assemble the Jello Layer: Pour the Jell-O mixture into the prepared crust. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until partially set (slightly jiggly).
- Prepare the Creamsicle Filling: Beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sweetened condensed milk, beating on low speed until combined. Stir in vanilla extract. Gently fold in thawed whipped topping until just combined.
- Assemble the Pie: Spread the creamsicle filling evenly over the partially set Jell-O layer.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the filling to set completely.
- Serve: Garnish with whipped cream, orange slices, or graham cracker crumbs (optional). Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a firmer crust, bake it. If not baking, chilling helps it set.
- Ensure the Jell-O layer is partially set before adding the creamsicle filling to prevent sinking.
- Soften cream cheese for a smooth filling.
- Gently fold in whipped topping to maintain its airy texture.
- Chill thoroughly for best results.
- Variations: Try different Jell-O flavors, use a chocolate crust, add fruit, or make individual pies.
- Troubleshooting:
- Crumbly crust: Add more melted butter.
- Runny filling: Ensure cream cheese is softened and don’t overmix the whipped topping. Consider adding a tablespoon of cornstarch.
- Jell-O not setting: Use the correct amount of water and chill for long enough.
