- 200g spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
- 100g button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 150g cooked ham, diced
- 200g canned tomatoes, crushed
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add a generous pinch of salt.
- Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions (8-10 minutes) until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Toss with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the sliced bell pepper and mushrooms, sautéing for another 5 minutes until tender.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute, being careful not to burn it.
- Stir in the diced ham and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet and toss gently to coat with the sauce.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve the spaghetti on plates or in a large bowl.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and add grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
- Serve immediately while hot.
