  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 75 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 glasses 1x

Description

A refreshing iced green tea that combines delicate flavors with a hint of sweetness and zesty lemon, garnished with fresh mint. Perfect for hot days and easy to customize with your favorite fruits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 teaspoons of loose green tea leaves or 4 green tea bags
  • 12 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup
  • 1 lemon, sliced (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling 4 cups of water in a kettle. Filtered water is preferred for the best taste.
  2. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes to avoid scorching the tea.
  3. If using loose tea leaves, place them in a tea infuser or a teapot. If using tea bags, place them directly in the pot.
  4. Pour the slightly cooled water over the tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes (4 minutes for a balanced flavor).
  5. Remove the tea leaves or tea bags and strain if necessary.
  6. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of honey or agave syrup while the tea is still warm, adjusting sweetness to taste.
  7. Let the brewed tea sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Transfer the tea to a pitcher and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, or pour over ice to cool quickly.
  9. Wash and slice the lemon into thin rounds.
  10. Rinse fresh mint leaves and pat them dry.
  11. Take the chilled green tea out of the refrigerator. Dilute with cold water or more ice if too strong.
  12. Fill a glass with ice cubes.
  13. Pour the chilled green tea over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full.
  14. Add a slice of lemon and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
  15. Gently stir to mix in the lemon and mint, adding more sweetener if desired.
  16. Serve in a tall glass with a colorful straw.
  17. Pair with light snacks or add other fruits for a fruity variation.
