  • Total Time: 132 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Refreshing and calming iced chamomile tea, sweetened with honey and garnished with lemon. Easy to make and offers numerous health benefits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water, filtered
  • 4 chamomile tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf chamomile)
  • 1/4 cup honey (or to taste, adjust for sweetness)
  • 1 lemon, sliced into thin rounds
  • Optional: Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Remove from heat and add chamomile tea bags (or loose leaf). Ensure tea bags are fully submerged.
  3. Cover and steep for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove tea bags (squeezing gently) or strain loose leaf tea. Discard tea bags or loose leaves.
  5. While the tea is still hot, add honey and stir until dissolved. Adjust to taste.
  6. Let the tea cool slightly at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Transfer to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.
  8. Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  9. Pour chilled chamomile tea over ice.
  10. Garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs (optional).
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chamomile tea for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking.
  • Get creative and add other fruits or herbs like berries, peaches, cucumber, lavender, or rosemary.
  • Double or triple the recipe for larger batches.
  • Infuse with other flavors like ginger, cinnamon, or cloves while steeping.
  • For a bubbly twist, top off with sparkling water or club soda.
  • Combine with lemon juice for a refreshing chamomile lemonade.
  • Freeze leftover tea in ice cube trays to prevent dilution.
  • Try the sun tea method for a smoother, less bitter tea.
  • If your tea is consistently bitter, try using water that is just off the boil (around 200°F or 93°C).
  • Experiment with different types of honey for unique flavors.
  • Don’t over-steep! Stick to the recommended steeping time of 5-7 minutes.
