  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 egg rolls 1x

Description

Crispy, golden-brown egg rolls filled with a creamy, savory crab rangoon filling. Perfect as an appetizer or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces imitation crab meat, finely shredded
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch of salt, or to taste
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Duck sauce

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded imitation crab meat, sliced green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, sugar, and salt.
  3. Mix thoroughly until well combined and creamy.
  4. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  5. Chill the filling for at least 30 minutes (optional).
  6. Lay out egg roll wrappers on a clean surface. Have beaten egg ready for egg wash.
  7. Position one wrapper like a diamond.
  8. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling in the center.
  9. Fold the bottom corner up and over the filling, tucking it in.
  10. Fold the left and right corners inward.
  11. Brush the top corner with egg wash.
  12. Tightly roll the egg roll away from you, pressing firmly to seal the edge.
  13. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Place assembled egg rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  14. Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a pot or deep fryer to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  15. Carefully add egg rolls in batches, avoiding overcrowding.
  16. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.
  17. Remove and drain on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
  18. Repeat with remaining egg rolls.
  19. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  20. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  21. Place assembled egg rolls on the sheet. Brush with oil or cooking spray.
  22. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  23. Cool slightly before serving.
  24. Serve hot and crispy with your favorite dipping sauce (sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or duck sauce).

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese completely for a smooth filling.
  • Don’t overfill the egg rolls to prevent bursting.
  • Maintain oil temperature for crispy fried egg rolls.
  • Baking provides a healthier alternative, though less crispy.
  • Adjust seasonings in the filling to your preference.
