Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of cornflakes
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup of chocolate chips or sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools. You’ll need a large mixing bowl, a saucepan, a spatula, and a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In the saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally until it’s completely melted.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and light corn syrup to the saucepan. Stir well until combined and bubbling (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract and salt, stirring to combine.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, pour in the 6 cups of cornflakes.
  6. Carefully pour the hot butter-sugar mixture over the cornflakes. Gently fold together, being careful not to crush the cornflakes.
  7. Add the mini marshmallows and gently fold them into the mixture until evenly distributed.
  8. Lightly grease your 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  9. Pour the cornflake mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  10. Press down firmly with lightly greased hands or the back of a spatula to compact the mixture.
  11. If using, sprinkle chocolate chips or sprinkles on top and press them down gently.
  12. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
  13. Once cool, cut into squares or rectangles (about 24 pieces).
  14. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
