Description
A refreshing and zesty Cool Lime Refresher made with fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and water. Perfect for hot days!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (approximately 8–10 limes, depending on size)
- 6 cups cold water (for diluting)
- 1/2 cup lime slices (for garnish)
- 1/4 cup mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved (about 5-7 minutes). The mixture should be clear with no visible sugar granules.
- Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool completely.
- Prepare the Lime Juice: Juice approximately 8-10 limes to yield 1 cup of fresh lime juice. Roll limes before juicing to maximize juice extraction.
- Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve if desired to remove pulp and seeds.
- Assemble the Refresher: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and fresh lime juice. Stir well.
- Add the 6 cups of cold water. Stir gently to combine.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the refresher and adjust the sweetness or tartness to your liking. Add more simple syrup if too tart, or more lime juice if too sweet.
- Chill (Optional): For best flavor, chill the refresher in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the Cool Lime Refresher over the ice.
- Garnish: Garnish with lime slices and mint leaves (optional).
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a sparkling refresher, substitute sparkling water or club soda for some of the still water.
- Add muddled strawberries or cucumber slices for flavor variations.
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the simple syrup.
- Use sugar substitutes like stevia or erythritol for a sugar-free option.
- Add a shot of vodka, gin, or tequila for a cocktail version.
- This recipe is easily scalable for larger batches.
- Freeze in ice cube trays for a refreshing treat.
