Cool Lime Refresher: The Ultimate Guide to This Refreshing Drink

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing and zesty Cool Lime Refresher made with fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and water. Perfect for hot days!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice (approximately 810 limes, depending on size)
  • 6 cups cold water (for diluting)
  • 1/2 cup lime slices (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved (about 5-7 minutes). The mixture should be clear with no visible sugar granules.
  3. Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool completely.
  4. Prepare the Lime Juice: Juice approximately 8-10 limes to yield 1 cup of fresh lime juice. Roll limes before juicing to maximize juice extraction.
  5. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve if desired to remove pulp and seeds.
  6. Assemble the Refresher: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and fresh lime juice. Stir well.
  7. Add the 6 cups of cold water. Stir gently to combine.
  8. Taste and Adjust: Taste the refresher and adjust the sweetness or tartness to your liking. Add more simple syrup if too tart, or more lime juice if too sweet.
  9. Chill (Optional): For best flavor, chill the refresher in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  10. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the Cool Lime Refresher over the ice.
  11. Garnish: Garnish with lime slices and mint leaves (optional).
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a sparkling refresher, substitute sparkling water or club soda for some of the still water.
  • Add muddled strawberries or cucumber slices for flavor variations.
  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the simple syrup.
  • Use sugar substitutes like stevia or erythritol for a sugar-free option.
  • Add a shot of vodka, gin, or tequila for a cocktail version.
  • This recipe is easily scalable for larger batches.
  • Freeze in ice cube trays for a refreshing treat.
