Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups ice cubes
- 1 cup vodka (optional, for an adult version)
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Extra blueberries and lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Place it over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves (about 3-5 minutes). No need to boil; just ensure the sugar is fully incorporated.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Wash the blueberries thoroughly, removing any stems or leaves if using fresh blueberries.
- In a blender, combine the cooled sugar syrup, blueberries, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Blend on high until smooth (about 30 seconds to 1 minute).
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl or pitcher to remove skins and seeds. Press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible, then discard the solids.
- Taste the blueberry lemonade base and adjust sweetness with more sugar or lemon juice if desired.
- In a blender, add 2 cups of ice cubes (adjust for desired slushiness).
- Pour in 2 cups of the blueberry lemonade base. For the adult version, add 1 cup of vodka.
- Blend on high until the ice is crushed and the mixture is smooth and slushy (about 30 seconds). Add more water or lemonade base if too thick.
- Taste and adjust with more lemon juice or sugar if needed.
- Use clear glasses or mason jars to showcase the slushie’s beautiful color.
- Fill each glass about three-quarters full with the slushy mixture.
- Garnish with fresh blueberries and a slice of lemon on the rim of the glass.
- Add a sprig of fresh mint for color and aroma.
- Serve immediately with a straw or spoon, and enjoy!
Notes
- If using frozen blueberries, you can skip the ice cubes for a thicker slushie.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and consider adding a splash of soda water for fizz!
