Description
Warm, gooey baked Brie with garlic-infused olive oil, honey, walnuts, and thyme. A simple, elegant appetizer for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (13.2 ounce) wheel of Brie cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- Crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Unwrap the Brie wheel and place it in a small oven-safe baking dish. You can score the top of the Brie with a sharp knife in a crosshatch pattern.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil and minced garlic. Let sit for a few minutes.
- Drizzle the garlic-infused olive oil over the Brie, followed by the honey.
- Sprinkle the chopped walnuts or pecans and fresh thyme leaves over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the Brie is soft and melted.
- Let the Brie rest for a minute or two before serving.
- Serve immediately with crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices.
Notes
- Feel free to experiment with different toppings like fig jam and prosciutto, cranberry sauce and pecans, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto, or caramelized onions and balsamic glaze.
- You can use different types of Brie cheese for this recipe. Double-cream Brie will be extra rich and creamy, while a lower-fat Brie will be slightly firmer.
- If you don’t have a baking dish that’s the right size, you can also bake the Brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Just be sure to keep a close eye on it to prevent it from spreading too much.
- You can prepare the Brie ahead of time by topping it with the garlic oil, honey, nuts, and thyme. Then, cover it and refrigerate it until you’re ready to bake it. Just add a few minutes to the baking time if you’re baking it straight from the refrigerator.
- Baked Brie pairs well with a variety of wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine should be slightly sweet or fruity to complement the richness of the cheese.
- This recipe serves about 6-8 people as an appetizer. You can easily adjust the recipe to make a larger or smaller batch, depending on your needs.
- Leftover baked Brie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it in the oven or microwave before serving. However, it’s best enjoyed fresh.
